Miltiades Constantinou - Freelancer Profile

Miltiades Constantinou is a young graphic designer that studied his BA at Frederick University Cyprus and later at London College of Communication where he got his MA in Graphic Design.

I have found Art fascinating for as long as I can remember. Art allows me to transform images in my mind into something tangible. The ability to convert imagination into reality intrigues me, it is something I don't find in any of my other subjects (although they are undoubtedly informative). I decided to study a foundation in Art and Design, creating graphic designs using computer software, which has given me a better insight into which path I want to follow in the future.

When I finished high school I chose to continue studying in the field of Graphic Design so I joined the BA degree course of Graphic & Advertising Design in 2006 at Frederick University. The first thing they told us back then was that being a designer is like being cursed with the word “deadline” - I wasn’t sure what they meant by that exactly and, to be honest, I was a bit scared! In the end I finally understood that I couldn’t work professionally without deadlines because, as the time passes working on a project, you want to make changes over and over again until it is perfect. I think as a designer, sometimes pressure can be a good thing.

Since January 2011 I have been occupied in developing print and web graphics at RAINCOAT, a design agency, for a lot of other companies and, so far, I have not stopped learning because I have been working on actual live projects.

In 2012 I had the opportunity to do my Master’s degree. I must say that my postgraduate course (MA Graphic Design) has been a revelation to me. It is very hard to describe the amount of excitement, knowledge, fun and experience that I have gained from graphic design. During my studies I have discovered a new world of layout, type usage and cultural aspects and I have developed new ways of seeing and experiencing all things in our world. This resulted in me being one of the top graduates of my class and that gained me the ability to win prizes through professional contests.

In my spare time I enjoy practicing Calisthenics (Gymnastics). I also used to be a member of a paintball team and had the opportunity to take part in various championships organized in Cyprus and in Europe. There I had the chance to meet other people from other countries and I learned about their activities/hobbies and cultures. I am looking forward to going there again whenever I have the chance. When I can find the time I enjoy going out, cycling, drawing, watching movies or playing video games with friends.

I also enjoy learning new programs (software's) such as Adobe After Effect. Which has allowed me to extent my knowledge into the field of Motion Graphics.
